Back in 1993, Sanjay Dutt and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had come together for a magazine cover. Read on to know what ‘Munnabhai’ actor had to say about Aishwarya entering films.
The Bachchans and the Dutts share much respect and fondness for each other. While Amitabh Bachchan was seen early in his career in Sunil Dutt’s Reshma Aur Shera , their sons Abhishek Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt too have been colleagues and friends. In fact, Sanjay has also worked with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
Back in 1993, Sanjay and Aishwarya, then a famous model, came together for the cover shoot of a magazine. At that point, Aishwarya had not made her debut in films and was yet to win the beauty pageant.
In the interview with the magazine, Sanjay recalled how he was blown away when he first saw Aishwarya in her popular cola commercial. ‘Who’s that beautiful woman,’ was his reaction he shared. The actor had further added, “Actually, my sisters like her a lot. They find her very beautiful. They’ve met her.” He revealed further, “My sisters warned me… ‘Don’t you woo her. Don’t take her number. Don’t send her flowers’.”
Dutt had also mentioned in the interview that if Aishwarya ventured into films she would lose her ‘beautiful side’. He had elaborated, “When you come into this glamour industry, it starts changing you, maturing you – that innocence is lost. That beautiful side, which she (Aishwarya) has right now on her face will disappear. Because she has to handle the film world right and that is not easy to do.”
In the same interview, Sanjay joked, “If she (Aishwarya) stood on the road, they’d (vehicles) all come to a screeching halt. If I did the same, they’d run over me.” A decade later, Sanjay and Aishwarya worked together in two films, Shabd and Hum Kisise Kum Nahin.
Now, that was indeed a beautiful throwback interview.
