John Abraham and Emraan Hashmi are all set to come together for the first time for Sanjay Gupta’s untitled gangster drama. Set in 1980s-90s, the film is inspired by true events and will showcase the transformation of the dream city from Bombay to Mumbai. Known for his gangster flicks like Kaante, Shootout at Lokhandwala and Shootout at Wadala, Sanjay Gupta is turning producer with his next film, which is being produced by Bhushan Kumar of T-Series.
A source spilled some inside details about the project to a leading daily saying, “Its a two-hero film, more of a cat and mouse Chase between the lead characters with one of them playing a cop and another one being a gangster. John and Emraan will be presented in a larger than life avtaar throughout.”
The source further added, “Like Shootout at Wadala, even this film is inspired from true events. Incidents like mills downing shutters, the murder of a prominent industrial, the nuxus amongst politicians, cops and the underworld are a part of the screenplay.” The film is expected to go on floors by July end and the makers are aiming to release in 2020. A huge set of the old Mumbai will be recreated in a studio in Mumbai.
Producer-director Sanjay Gupta confirmed the same in an official statement. He said, “It’s my third outing with John and I’m super excited to work with Emraan. I have always wanted to work with him and I’m back to my base of filmmaking, gangster dramas and all I can say is… its good to be home.”
Stay tuned for more updates on the same.
