Madhuri Dixit Nene made her Bollywood debut with Abodh (1984). Gradually, she made her mark in Bollywood and went on to rule on the big screen in the 90s. Be it her effortless acting skills, impeccable dancing or eye-catching expressions, the diva has made an irreplaceable place for herself in Hindi cinema. Recently, in an interview with a daily, she recalled the day when she faced the camera for the first time for Abodh.Talking about the same, she said, “I was 16 at the time and I had very short hair. But as I was trying to get the role of a beautiful villager, I needed long strands. So they put a heavy wig over my head, which was then braided and put on. Once my makeup was done, I looked at the part of a gaon ki chhori. Then I was taken to the Rajshri studios in Prabhadevi where, to my surprise, I was pushed into the camera and invited to dance with expressions. The creators wanted to see what I looked like on the screen and how comfortable I was with the camera. I thought I would be shown some steps to follow and maybe I should speak some dialogues, but here I was asked to take my own steps while the music was playing; it was strange. Fortunately, I was used to the spontaneity of all the stage performances I had done at school and I quickly got into rhythm.” Her journey has truly been inspiring, isn’t it?
