Arjun Kapoor – Kriti Sanon starrer Panipat has fallen into trouble after its release. Sources close to the producers said that they have deleted the controversial scenes related to Maharaja Surajmal and submitted the film to the censor board. They have now issued the certificate with the film’s length cut by 11 minutes.
Cabinet minister and BJP MLA Vishvendra Singh, who is a descendant of Jat ruler Maharaja Surajmal, expressed his agony in a tweet two days ago. He said, “It is unfortunate that the legendary Jat ruler, Maharajah Suraj Mal has been depicted in an unseemly light and historical facts have been distorted in the film, Panipat. In light of the vociferous protest by the Jat community in Haryana, Rajasthan and other regions of North India, I believe that the film should be banned to avoid a law and order situation.”
Jat Mahasabha state presdient Rajaram Meel issued a press release which said the makers allegedly diminished the image of the king by a mismatch casting. It read,“Maharaja Surajmal was 7.2-feet tall and a strong man. But in the movie, the actor who played the role was hardly six feet. The age of the protagonist is also a mismatch.”
