BT Sport Europe Broadcast Rights
BT Sport has acquired exclusive UEFA Champions League rights in the UK, starting from the 2018-19 season. The three-year, multi-platform deal will bring all Champions League matches live to the broadcasters’ subscribers on TV, online, mobile devices and via the BT Sport app. Coverage of the competition will be available every season through the BT Sport Pack and is expected to be spread across the network’s family of channels. This means live Champions League action on BT Sport 1, BT Sport 2, BT Sport 3, BT Sport ESPN, BT Sport Ultimate and BT Sport Extra channels.
BT Sport has retained exclusive multi-platform rights for the UEFA Europa League in the UK. The pay-TV operator will air all games live on TV and on its video streaming service, until the end of the 2020/21 season. Broadcasts will be carried out on TV by linear networks in high definition – and occasionally in 4K Ultra HD – which includes BT Sport 2, BT Sport 3, BT Sport Extra channels and BT Sport Ultimate. All Europa League matches will be available to stream live in the UK on the BT Sport app on smartphones, tablets, smart TVs and games consoles. In addition to highlights shows being televised on game weeks, the BT Sport website will constantly publish extended match recaps and provide a catch-up experience to subscribers.
British pay-TV broadcaster BT Sport will air the Men’s Community Shield live on TV. Auxiliary programming and match highlights are expected to be shown as well.
BT Sport has acquired multi-platform English-language broadcast rights for the English Premier League in the UK. Their comprehensive coverage will include exclusive live matches from Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham throughout the period of their deal. For the 2020/21 season, BT Sport’s package of EPL matches was expanded to 58 games, up from 52 games in the previous season. Every Premier League match telecast live will also be made available to stream on BT Sport’s website and official app for mobile devices, games consoles and smart TVs.
BT Sport secured a 5-year deal with the German Bundesliga back in 2016, which enables it to broadcast matches from Germany’s top tier division in UK and Ireland on its various platforms until 2021. The deal, which also gives BT Sport access to the DFL Supercup and German Bundesliga 2, means that the UK broadcaster will air games every week on its TV channels, including BT Sport 1, BT Sport ESPN and Ultra HD network BT Sport Ultimate. Online and mobile streaming of the matches will be available to subscribers via the BT Sport App as well.
BT Sport has acquired exclusive French Ligue 1 rights in the UK and Ireland. The multi-platform deal will allow the British network to show up to 5 live Ligue 1 matches every weekend on TV and online, until 2021. The mix of live, delayed and repeat broadcasts will be covered by the pay-TV broadcaster’s family of television channels, including BT Sport 2, BT Sport ESPN and BT Sport Extra. Weekly preview and highlights shows will additionally be offered. The BT Sport App will bring all the Ligue 1 action to subscribers online on their computers and mobile devices.
BT Sport has acquired British rights to the French women’s top division in the UK and Ireland. During the 2020-21 season, BT Sport will show 18 matches from the D1 Arkema live.
